Prof Hatem is a consultant in Arthroscopic surgery of the Hip Shoulder and Knee. His fellowship on Shoulder Arthroscopy was in Birmingham UK, in 2005, after which he developed the shoulder service in Assiut and Upper Egypt, and has since operated thousands of shoulder injury cases from Bankart, Biceps and SLAP repairs, to Rotator Cuff injuries.
Prof Hatem in 2008 started the practice of Hip Arthroscopy and had his fellowship in Munich Germany in 2010. He has since developed the practice to become the leading Hip Arthroscopy surgeon in Egypt and the Middle East treating cases of FAI (Femoroacetabular Impingement) and Labral tears on a weekly basis.
Prof Hatem has a vast experience in treating knee problems from sports injuries like ACL reconstruction, Meniscal tears and multi- ligament knee injuries to advanced knee Osteoarthritis and TKA (Total knee Arthroplasty).
Prof Hatem has held many international positions and published lots of research in the field of Arthroscopy and Trauma.
He is currently the Head of the Arthroscopy Unit in Assiut University and is the Past Treasurer of SICOT (International Orthopedic Society).
